1. Ride Two-humped Bactrian Camels

Have you ever ridden two-humped camels? If not, you should do this during your Gobi desert tour in Mongolia. The two-humped camels walk gently and you will feel much more comfort between their two humps rather than riding the one-humped camels. And the picture of you on the camelback besides the sand dunes might remind you of the experience.

2. Climb Khongor Sand Dunes

Khongor sand dunes are one of the largest sand dunes in Mongolia. It continues 100 km, towers 300 m above the Gobi steppes and with a width of 1-7 km. The sand dunes are one of the most beautiful where photographers like to shoot amazing pictures. Climbing the sand dunes is an experience itself and you will have the most stunning views of the Gobi desert from its top. Climbing the higher dunes allow you to have nicer views, but seems a challenge for many people. Our advice is not to climb in a hurry to be on the top of the dunes. Make it easy and gentle. Once you are on the top of the dunes, slide the sand northwards against the wind. You will hear a sound like an aircraft. This is the sand singing. You can hear the sand singing when the sand is dry.

3. Stay in traditional dwelling ger

The ger is the main dwelling of the nomads and the main accommodation at the ger camps. You should not leave Mongolia not staying in the ger. You may call it yurt. Yurt is a Turkic word for the ger. You can stay any ger. A ger of nomads, ger of ger camps or ger of a guest house/ger. You will feel more comfortable while staying in the ger camps' ger while the ger of nomads will let you have more experience.

Next, are the Reindeer people who live up in the North in the forested mountains. They live in the "tepee" and their livelihood is completely dependent on nature and their few reindeer.

4. Visit the Gobi nomads

The nomad family visit can be one of the best experiences you will have in Mongolia. It’s amazing to be invited into a ger and witness the age-old customs of these nomadic people first hand. The Gobi Nomads are the best nomads among the nomads of the other parts in Mongolia. You know the Gobi has a shortage of pastureland, water, and wood. The Gobi receives the least precipitation within Mongolia. Therefore, the Gobi nomads move often than the nomads in the other regions. Due to the demand to move regularly, the Gobi nomads prefer smaller gers and less furnishing. You should make at least one time visit to a Gobi nomad family to see their unique life.

Take break from modern-day stressful civilization:

When you travel in the Mongolian countryside, you will be refreshed and replenished by the views of natural scenery and the calmness. Perhaps you will even forget which day of the week it is in this timeless environment so far from the world's modern, noisy and stressful cities.

Mongolian tourism is still in its infancy:

Even though Mongolia is a country able to attract any traveler, it is not yet a well-known destination. As Mongolia is the least densely populated country on earth, and though modern development is slowly creeping in, the country remains largely off the mass-tourism trail, giving visitors plenty of opportunities to learn first-hand about the traditional Mongolian way of life before it is threatened by change. It is now an emerging destination. You can imagine how attractive Mongolia is when you hear that most of the travelers who traveled to Mongolia want to come back.
